Last year I pretty much traded in my insect net for a camera (Canon PowerShot SX10 IS). I don't really know what I'm doing (I can say "auto" and "macro," and use the 20X zoom), but every once in awhile I get a really great image. I share the best on my Flickr photostream, and those and passable shots at Bugguide.net. I'd encourage any of you to post images at Bugguide if you don't already. Note that the site is for North American species only, though. Looking forward to learning more about the basics of insect photography. Thanks!
