lol...scorps are terribly hard to tell theyr nearing a molt..... some will get dull in color when a molts comin up, others u cant even tell ...most(not all) will refuse food for up to 3 months prior to a molt
When my Emperor molted, she stopped eating and stayed down in her burrow for two weeks. Her burrow abutted the side of the tank so I was able to get before and after pictures:
One day before molting.
One day after molting. The shed exoskeleton is on the left. (Forgive the flash.)
All hard and shiny.

Thank you Richard! Moe isn't eating, he actually throws the food away from him with his claws! He's looking pretty chubby. He never burrows though. Are we doing something wrong?
What are you using for substrate and how deep is it? Emperors are obligate burrowers and need 4 to 6 inches of damp substrate. I use coco fiber along with a false bottom to keep it moist.

I'm usign eco earth or cocoa fiber...the stuff in a brick that you add wter to. Sub is nice and moist. There's got to be at least 4" in there. I'll double check to be sure and add some extra if needed.
That sounds fine. I guess it's up to the individual scorp, some just use a hide while others prefer to dig a burrow. If your scorp is fat and refusing food, it very well might be getting ready to molt. I would just leave it be and offer it food once a week. Even when they're not molting, Emperors will sometimes fast for weeks or months at a time.
