POLL: When did you become interested in "Bugs"?

i can remember catching butterflies and stuff with my dad when i was fairly tiny.  my brothers and i made periodic forays into self caught invert pets (most fairly disasterous for the bugs... at least in the beginning)


but i consider myself formally entered into the hobby about 3.25 years ago

I didn't get the "bug" until I was 20 and got my first tarantula and scorpion; expanding my interest from reptiles. That was 10 years ago.

I've always loved bugs. One of my favorite toys growing up was an anatomically correct grasshopper and a stuffed bee. When I got old enough to go to school, I was always the kid chasing the bugs.

Ive always been fascinated by bugs. My favorite toy growing up was a snail finger puppet. Heh, Ive passed that fascination onto my son, hes only 2.5 years old and hes SO excited that mommys getting a Tarantula...AND his FAVORITE song is Itsy Bitsy Spider *^_^*

I can remember how utterly fascinated I was when I first saw a lady bug which was so long ago I can remember. It just grew from there to the point that I wanted to know everything about them.

That's when it all started. I love them. I've raised Painted ladies for years. I've caught bugs and brought them to school for years ( every time when I got home I'd be in trouble ). XD I remember catching silverfish, pill bugs, and ants in front of my school ( preschool I think ).

Even the teachers and bus matrons helped me with catching them so to speak.

But I can never exactly tell you when I fell for them. I think I was 5.

i got my first T when i was 8...and obviously i was interested in them probably way before that

i got into arachnids when i was still in high school, sorta. i had an emperor scorp (P. imperitor) and a goliath bird eater ( T. blondi) about 12 years ago, i didnt know how to properly take care of either and i gave the scorp away after a few monthes and the T died on me. i didnt get back into the hobby until i married my (soon to be) ex-wife in 08. she had/has a few G. roseas and i said i wanted a scorp like i used to have. so she bought me a P imperator in jan. of 09 and my obsession has not stopped since
