I've been interested in entomology since before I could walk. When I was little I made jungle gyms for worms and kept mosquito larvae in a jar because I thought they were beautiful emerging from the water as adults. My 11th birthday presents were a hisser and a giant african millipede and my 16th birthday present was a tarantula. I never want for tupperware and if you can't handle being around anything with more than four legs then you probably can't handle being around me. As of right now I'm thinking of studying medical entomology in graduate school, but it's tentative and I've still got a little time to think about it. All I know for sure is that I love insects... and nematodes... those are cool too.

I'm currently working in a lab at my school doing research on bubbling behavior in the blow fly Phormia regina. My first official paid position in entomology research :)

entomology (obviously), writing, fencing, skanking, music, hiking, subcultures, traveling, etc.

Live inverts:
-Mantids:
-Phyllocrania paradoxa: Ghost mantids
-True bugs:
-Phymata americana: Jagged Ambush Bugs (eggs)
-Cockroaches
-Gromphadorhina portentosa: Madagascar Hissing roaches
-Beetles:
-Unkown Buprestidae larvae

Mounted specimens:
-(too many, will list these later)

Non-inverts (verts! haha)
-Dog: Mutt (looks like a badass, acts like a fool)
-Bearded dragon (mine)
-African Fat-tailed Gecko (household pet)
-Spring Peepers (household pet)
-Betta (mom's)
-Bull Frog (dad's)
-Snapping Turtle (dad's)

When the roaches get big enough I plan on breeding them, right now I've only got one full adult though.

I have also been trying to mate my ghosts, but so far it's been difficult and I don't have a lot of time to devote to it. I'm still working on it though.

Also, I did successfully manage to mate and get eggs from my jagged ambush bugs last summer so I'm hoping that I'll have nymphs sometime in May.

sooo many things! (an Assassin Bug is certainly at the top, though)
