Yeah I haved got some of the same type messages for keeping tarantulas. They just need to get over it.

even the hobbyists themselves can get extremely frustrating at times, never mind the general public *shudder* after seeing both them and the general public at their worst I'd say just ignore it, because there's so much bad-mouthing, ignorance and general nastieness going on left right and centre you'll only get upset/frustrated/misanthropic/slightly homicidal if you don't outright ignore it. ;)
