Bethylid wasps are antlike small nimble wasps of 1-15 mm length. They are primary, external, larval parasitoids of lepidoptera and coleoptera that are inside the tree trunks, seeds, & stored grains. They are lenty in the leaf litter of the tropical rain forests of Western Ghats. Bethylidae is represented in the world by about 1900 nominal species in 84 genera belonging to 6 subfamilies and in India, 92 species in 18 genera under 4 subfamilies.
