Well, I discovered my B. Smithi is a male today after it moulted.  Not something I was hoping for at all.  I guess on the bright side, I've had almost seven great years with him in my care, but still.  The same thing happened with my L. parahybana (RIP) over a year and a half ago and he died this past spring at only four years of age.  Sucks!!!

Another Molt!!!!!

I was thinking about my tarantulas a lot today. I've missed them since coming to college, but Dad is taking great care of them. When I got in from class, my phone started ringing and it was Mom. She told me the best news I've heard all day, Catastrophe molted! She's showing even more color now, and I can't wait until this weekend when I can go home and see her!... Read More

Catastrophe finally molted! I came in from camping this evening and she was sitting next to her molt! I'm so happy for her! She's finally starting to show her colors! Her knees are red now, and her abdomen is totally black! I'm super excited!... Read More

An interesting idea

I was in walmart the other day, printing some pictures for my scrapbook, when i noticed a small photo album that had just enough pages for my pictures of Catastrophe, my B. smithi. I got the little book and put the pictures in it. It was only later, when I was peeling the tag off, that I noticed that the style of book was called a "brag book". My tarantula updates

A few weeks ago, I got my little tarantula. She's doing fine, I'm glad to report! She's eating, and burrowing. I was just wondering about some of her behavior. First, the first time I put a cricket in with her she walked up to it, touched it as if to eat it, then ran away, right up the side of her tank... Is that normal?
