Time for a few updates! I've registered for my classes, and class starts today! WOOT. I signed up for a few Entomology classes. I got the proffessor's permission to take Medical and Veterinary Entomology! Yay! and I'm also taking Intro to Insects! I'm psyched! Also, My rose hair tarantula is supposed to arrive today! Wish me luck everyone! Later this week, I'll be going to the Entomology department and turning in my application to work research there in the fall! I've been speaking to the Professor of Entomology at the University of Florida, and apparently I don't need a permit to have insects here unless they are agricultural or human pests. And most of the pest species I've captured were caught IN Florida, such as the skunk roaches, Australian, American, etc! I need to make absolutely sure, but I don't think I own a single invertebrate that is actually an invasive species, meaning I won't have to give away any pets when I move to Florida this April.... While attending the annual national meeting of the Entomological Society of America in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida in December, 2005, I had the good fortune of meeting an amazing artist and her husband in the exhibit hall. They had one of the booths there, where Jessa Huebing-Reitinger was working on an enormous painting of an orchid mantis.
