I got my first tarantula for Christmas in 2006... since then my collection has fluctuated between 80 and 180 tarantulas. Addicting, man!
I find tarantulas very interesting and I enjoy telling anyone who will listen about my little bugs. I will be writing blogs, here, about my "Spider Stories" and I hope you read them and enjoy!
In no particular order and preferably all females:
Ephebopus uatuman "Emerald Skeleton"
Tapinauchenius gigas "Orange Treespider"
Citharischius crawshayi "King Baboon"
Iridopelma hirsutum "Amazon Ribbed Tree Spider"
Stromatopelma calceatum "Featherleg Baboon"
Psalmopoeus irminia "Venezuela Suntiger"
Haplopelma albostriatum "Thai Zebra"
MY GENERAL INTERESTS
I love music. I play the clarinet, *dork*, and am teaching myself the guitar. I'll listen to just about anything... but that being said since the stereo in my car got jacked I can spare myself the crizzap that gets played on the radio. *ahem*
A close second to music is art. I do a lot of painting... impressionistic painting. Can't for the life of me do anything realistic. I also like photography. And I'm getting into crafting... sewing and reconstructing old clothes into clothes I would wear. Again... *dork*
I love traveling and wish I could afford to do more of it. I think I like it so much because I don't like the city I live in... it's really nice to get away. ;)
Oh, and I'm also a computer geek. *sigh*

Yeah i like acoustic guitars as well, do you play with nylon or metal strings?
For tabs i used to go on www.olga.net until it got shut down
Some point in the next few days i'll upload a pic of my guitar :) it's missing 3 strings at the moment :L
I volunteer every fri :) it's awesome i get too terrify the public with hissing cockroaches mwahahahaha :)
I'm hoping to study a masters/phd in environmental biology then go into teaching. So the zoo is helping me get the experience and confidence i need :)
What do you get up to outside the world of insectgeeks?
That is too cool! The most our local zoo would let me do is clean up after the animals or do "tours"... no hands on stuff. :(
Outside of IG... well, I lead such an exciting life, lol. I work for a defense contractor... but I have a lot of hobbies to make up for that.Â
I see you're into music... you play any intsruments?
You should ask your local zoo if you could set up something :) Kids go crazy when they see giant insects :)
Defense contractor, sounds serious, is it a fun job?
I have a blue/green Jackson Kelly guitar and it's beautiful lol sadly my guitar playing skill are terrible lol But when i go back to university in October and stop working full time i'll be getting lessons :)
You have some very cool videos. Do you film them through a microscope?? I guess I dunno how'd you'd get such awesome detail.
yes i film them through a light microscope. It's not a super powerful one. For the ant shot used an LED flashlight to film them moving as the Illuminator would just cast a shadow.
