I've lived in New York City, Los Angeles and Chicago. I prefer living in the country here in Minnesota.

I'm an actor, screenwriter and photographer.

And, of course, a lover of insects. Have been all my life. It's inate.

I remember as a kid running around under the street lights at all hours of the night waiting for something to thud against the street. My brother and I would rush to it and gather it up in a flash. Lots of Pachysphinx modesta... or as we called them, Big Poplars. Makes sense that that's what we'd catch most of since I grew up on the Mesabi Iron Range in Northern Minnesota in a small town called Aurora. The Iron Range was and is filled with Poplar Trees.

I remember spotting my first Luna Moth at my cousin's house... early in the morning and way up on the side of his house, two stories up. I was tossing all kinds of things up at it to knock it down. In fact, I got so hysterical about it being there and wanting it I got my dad to assist me. I remember him tossing a softball, underhanded, straight up... several dozen times... and finally knocking it free. God knows what I did with it. Can't remember that far back.

Yet, I also remember my first io moth. Never had seen one before. Caught a male one before the birds got up at my mom's brother's place. Had it and an Emerald Beetle as my first prized specimens in my very first insect collection... way back in fifth grade. I believe Nixon was still president at the time.

10 Actias luna moth cocoons
10 Automeris io moth cocoons
36 Hyalophora cecropia moth cocoons
4 Samia cynthia moth cocoons
4 Callosamia promethea moth cocoons
4 Hyalophora columbia moth cocoons

10 dried Antheraea polyphemus moths
6 dried Actias luna moths
1 dried Automeris io moth
4 dried Hyalophora cecropia moths

I WANT, WANT, WANT, WANT, WANT, WANT, WANT, WANT, WANT, WANT, WANT, WANT, WANT, WANT, WANT, WANT, WANT, WANT, WANT, WANT, WANT, WANT, WANT, WANT a digital movie camera and editing software.

I WANT, WANT, WANT, WANT Canon's best telephoto lens.

I WANT, WANT, WANT, WANT Canon's best macro lens.

I WANT, WANT, WANT, WANT a Goliathus regius, Goliathus goliatus and a Goliathus meleagris.

I WANT, WANT, WANT, WANT a Graellsia isabellae.

I still WANT, WANT, WANT, WANT to eclose an Argema mittrei and an Atticus atlas in my own home here in Minnesota... legally, of course. So, I guess you could say I WANT, WANT, WANT, WANT A PERMIT to do so.

And that's just for starters.

Saturniidae. All the large silk moths of the world... especially from North America.

Photography and...

I was looking for love in all the wrong places
Looking for love in too many faces
Searching your eyes, looking for traces
Of what.. I'm dreaming of...
Hopin' to find a friend and a lover
God bless the day I discover
Another heart, lookin' for love

Thank you much. He looks like a little monk, doesn't he?

I have three cameras, none of them good (if you see my photography you can see I can make even a terrible camera sing and dance, but it still remains terrible) but I have, and I say this with great pride, filmed with a Canon xl2!

Since everyone complements your photograph collection I'll do the same! It's very awesome indeed!
I'm mad about moths, I've never had a chance to get into them but I've been obsessed with the things for as long as ... ever. Not many inverts can be more endearing, huh?

Your gallery is tight. Every time one of your pix come up in a battle it gets my vote.

Do you have a photo studio or what?

I did actually recognize your username when I saw your profile (the Scandinavian in me).

I will be launching a few new product lines in a week or so. Thanks for the promo!

OMG!  I've ordered from you before.  Your awesome mesh/cube

habitats.  I love 'em and will be ordering more of them.  At

the moment, I have one hanging inside the house holding a dozen luna

cocoons.

It's been years and like I said, I simply eclosed them. I ordered some wholesale lots (international) back before the legality issues really tightened up. I simply hung them up, retailed a bunch out and kept a dozen or so of each for myself (that eventually became fodder for several generations of dermestids, in a garage).

So, I won't be able to provide you with any tips on doing much with them. I just kept the pupae at room temperature and somewhat humid. The mittrei cocoons are pretty fantastic, even after the moth leaves them!

Oh, I've eclosed both mittrei and atlas;-)

That's very good to know.  I'll have to learn from you... this spring, perhaps.

Thank you! Insectgeeks definitely seems like the wave of the future and it's neat to be here in the beginning to watch it evolve.

That is BY FAR the most creative and interesting ento-avatar I've ever seen (and slightly disturbing in an X-files kinda way...remember the guy with the piercing yellow eyes that could crawl through the heater ducts and cocooned himself up in newspaper and bodily secretions?).

Oh, I've eclosed both mittrei and atlas;-)

Thanks for sharing your hobby!

Peter
